Dont miss this....!!! Life lesson, A small but awesome discussion between an American businessman and a small Mexican village fisher man

An American businessman was standing at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish.
"How long did it take you to catch them?" the American asked.
"Only a little while" the Mexican replied.
"Why don't you stay out longer and catch more fish?" the American then asked.
"I have enough to support my family's immediate needs" the Mexican said.
"But" the American then asked, "What do you do with the rest of your time?"

The Mexican fisherman said: "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life, senor."

The American scoffed: "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds you could buy a bigger boat and, with the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman, you would sell directly to the consumers, eventually opening your own can factory. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise."
The Mexican fisherman asked: "But senor, how long will this all take?"
To which the American replied: "15-20 years."
"But what then, senor?"
The American laughed and said: "That's the best part. When the time is right, you would announce an IPO - an Initial Public Offering - and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions."
"Millions, senor? Then what?"
The American said slowly: "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos..."

Stimuvax clinical program is suspended temporarily by Merck Serono

Stimuvax® is an innovative cancer vaccine designed to induce an immune response to cancer cells that express MUC1, a protein antigen widely expressed on common cancers. MUC1 is over expressed on many cancers such as lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and colorectal cancer. Stimuvax is thought to work by stimulating the body's immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells expressing MUC1.
Stimuvax is being developed by Merck KGaA of Darmstadt, Germany (Merck) under a license agreement with Oncothyreon. Merck is currently conducting three Phase 3 trials of Stimuvax.
Merck Serono, a division of Merck KGaA, has temporarily suspended all clinical programmes for Stimuvax (BLP 25 liposome vaccine) following a suspected serious adverse reaction.
The suspension comes in line with the FDA's decision to place a hold on the company's investigational new drug application for Stimuvax, which has shown potential for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer.
A patient participating in the Phase II exploratory clinical trial developed encephalitis after receiving Stimuvax in combination with an intensified schedule of low-dose cyclophosphamide, not used in the other Stimuvax studies.
Merck Serono is investigating the cause of the adverse reaction.

Pfizer Joins Fight Against Pneumococcal Disease

Pfizer has signed a ten-year provisional supply agreement to supply Prevenar, the company's 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, for infants and young children in the world's poorest countries.
The decision is part of the Advance Market Commitment (AMC) pilot project, which has also been joined by GSK and seeks to stamp out pneumococcal disease, the leading cause of vaccine-preventable death in children worldwide.
The AMC is a novel public-private approach to public health funding and is designed to create a sustainable marketplace to ensure a stable supply of pneumococcal vaccines and stimulate the development and expansion of manufacturing capacity.
Pfizer chairman and chief executive officer Jeffrey Kindler said that last year, working with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI), the company contributed the first pneumococcal conjugate vaccine used in a national immuniaation programme in the developing world.
"We are proud to extend our commitment even further," Kindler said.
The procurement process is administered by the United Nations Children's Fund and supported by GAVI.
Under the terms of the agreement, the price of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine under the AMC framework is $7 for the first several years. The vaccine price will include a $3.50 subsidy to be paid by the AMC donor fund, and $3.50 to be paid by GAVI with a co-financing contribution paid by the developing country governments that introduce the vaccine.
Under the AMC framework, participating vaccine manufacturers must make a binding commitment to supply vaccines for ten years at a maximum price of $3.50 per dose to meet long-term demand in developing countries even after the donor contributions are exhausted.
